Acidity
Fenugreek seeds – Take one teaspoon washed down with water before meals.
Mint – Fresh mint leaves stepped for 15 minutes in hot water, sip slowly after meals.
Anti-Inflammatory
Put 1 cup of dried Elder flower and 1 cup of Peppermint into a bath of warm water, soak for a minimum of 20 minutes. Also recommended to be taken as a mixed tea and include chamomile twice a day to break fever or aid recovery in severe cases of inflammation.
Arthritis
Cider Vinegar – Mix 4 cups of hot water and 4 cups of cider vinegar, dip a clean cloth into the mixture and apply to the affected area for approx 30 minutes. Do not use boiling water and allow the cloth to cool slightly before applying to the required area.
Anxiety
Chamomile – Taken as a tea will also help for conditions linked to stress and anger
Bed sores
Calendula – Creams or paste can be applied directly and give huge relief.
Goldseal – Grind into fine powder form and sprinkle over the area and protect with cotton gauze, aids healing.
Boils
Garlic – Make a paste and apply directly, raw onion juice can also be used instead of garlic if preferred.
Circulation
Ginkgo biloba, ginger, garlic and cayenne all strengthen and protect the body’s circulatory systems .
Coughs
Grapes- Grape is known to tone up the lungs and is also an expectorant that relieves a cough. Add a teaspoon of honey into a cup of grape juice and sip or drink when required.
Onion - Extract juice from a raw onion, add a teaspoon of honey into the onion juice and take a teaspoon twice daily.
Dandruff
Lime – 1 tablespoon added to a cup of water for the final rinse.
Rosemary – Add 3 drops of rosemary into 500 ml of warm water for the final rinse.
Digestion
Coriander- Mix seeds of coriander and some dry ginger in it grind into powder, take 1 teaspoon washed down with some warm water 3 times a day before meals.
Grapes – A handful of grapes calms stomach acid and aids digestive juices before or after eating .
Eyes
Eyebright – Take as a herbal tea, strengthens eyes, and memory.
Fennel and Chervil – used along with eyebright for eye disorders including detached retina and cataracts.
Fever
Dried Basil – Steep 2 tablespoons of Basil in hot water for 15 minutes and drink slowly.
Foot Problems
Four parts water and one part white vinegar in a bowl of warm water and soak for 15 minutes. Pat feet dry and sprinkle with bicarbonate of soda making sure to get between the toes. This is good for treating most fungal infections of the feet.
Gout
8 oz's of warm water, 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar and half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda. Mix well and sip slowly. Take this mixture three times a day for two weeks, then reduce to once daily to maintain.
Haemorrhoids
Make a paste of ground radish add small amount of milk, apply to area for relief. There will be a noticeable difference within a few days.
Hangover
Boil 1 cup water and mix in 1 teaspoon each of honey and lemon juice, drink three of these during the day.
Hay fever
Chamomile – Use a tea bag in boiling water as a steam inhaler to clear blocked nose.
Lime Juice – Every morning on an empty stomach take a cup of warm water with 1 tablespoon of honey and the juice of half a lime.
Headaches
Lavender and peppermint leaves in equal amounts, mix well in a mortise and pestle. Place the mix between a piece of damp gauze and apply to the forehead or neck, leave for 30 minutes. Alternatively put the mix in a muslin bag, place under the hot tap in the bath and soak in the warm water for 25 minutes.
Hot Flushes
Sage – Tea or tincture three times a day.
Immune System
Goldenseal – Stimulates the spleen to strengthen the immune system.
Insomnia
Valerian -Tea taken just before going to bed.
Lettuce – Tea or sandwich is a known sedative which will aid a restful nights sleep.
Itching
Mint- Boil a cup of water and add a handful of fresh mint leaves continue to boil for a few more minutes then allow to cool. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and apply to the areas that are affected.
Bicarbonate of Soda – Add two cupfuls to a warm bath and one cup of cider vinegar and soak for 20 minutes.
Knees
White Willow Bark – Chew a piece of the bark to relieve inflammation.
Mustard compress – Place over the knees and leave for 25 minutes.
Basil oil – Dilute 7 drops of Basil oil in 10 ml's of flaxseed oil and rub gently into the knees.
Lumbago
Rosemary and Peppermint Leaves – Grind leaves in a pestle add a couple of drops of cider vinegar to make into a paste, add some warm water and spread on a clean cloth. Apply to the area and lay a warm hot water bottle over the poultice, leave for 30 minutes.
Menopause
Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) - lessens menstrual cramping and treats menopause symptoms. Chaste tree ( Vilex agnus- castus) - appears to lower high estrogen levels whilst raising low levels of progesterone. Both effective treatments for most women.
Kiwi - This fruit is useful in helping to relieve menopausal symptoms.
Mosquito bites
Make a paste from bicarbonate of soda and water, apply directly to bites for relief.
Mouth Ulcers
Coconut milk - massage the gums with coconut milk and honey three times or four times a day.
Nappy Rash
Egg white – Smear egg white over clean skin and allow to dry before putting nappy back on, do this on every nappy change. Protein in the whites helps to heals the skin very quickly even in severe cases.
Ovaries
Chamomile, Raspberry and Mint – Choose one of these herbs to take as a tea 3 to 4 times a day to help soothe ovarian pain.
Pre menstrual syndrome
Yarrow – Taken as a tea as well as teas associated for treating Ovaries as above. Yarrow leaves can be placed in olive oil for a few weeks stored in a cool dry place, then used to massage into the abdominal and pelvic area.
Rheumatism
8 oz glass of warm water mix in 2 teaspoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar , twice daily.
1 tablespoon of carrot juice and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice 2 to 3 times a day.
Skin Tags
Tie a fine cotton thread around the tag and tighten it with a knot, apply neat cider vinegar to the tag a few times a day. If needs be replace the thread every couple of days, the tag will eventually dry up and fall off.
Teeth
Clove Oil - Add a pinch of pepper to the oil and apply over the painful tooth to reduce pain and fight infection.
Garlic- 1 clove of garlic and place over the affected area with some rock salt, this kills bacteria and germs.
Thread Veins
Parsley – Crushed leaves applied as a poultice helps to reduce broken and thread veins, can also be used on bruising to aid healing.
Throat
Dried Basil - Make into a tea to drink and gargle a few times a day.
1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon cider vinegar, 8 ounces hot water – sip or gargle for soothing the throat.
Tonsillitis
6 oz warm water and add 8 teaspoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Sip and gargle the mixture as needed.
Urinary
Baking soda - At the first sign of a urinary infection 41/2 oz boiled water left to cool to room temperature add In 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Follow 20 minutes later with a 4oz glass of cranberry juice and 20 minutes later another 4oz glass of room temperature water. Repeat this three times a day for three or four days.
Verucca
Apply cider vinegar a few times daily, cover with gauze, noticeable difference within the week.
Warts
Dandelion Weeds - Extract white milky juice from the dandelion stems into a small container, apply this liquid over the warts twice a day for a week or so.
Potatoes - Slice a potato and rub over the affected area a few times a day for a week.
